You get what you pay for

by Kevin Partner on 2nd July, 2009

Logo creation is an art, but I needed a logo for a new venture quickly and I fell for the promise of the £25 logo company (www.25poundlogo.co.uk). The promises were good, the portfolio good. My brief was clear, the results were utter shit. Particularly hilarious was design 1: I’d said that a votive candle was a bit like two tea lights one on top of the other so what did they give me? Two tea lights on top of each other. The only thing I liked was the font (which turned out to be a free font).

I’m no designer, but it’s pretty sad when a logo company sends me results worse than anything I could create myself. After 6 rounds of revisions, I gave up and asked them to send me what that had. You can see my improved version at the end of this post.

My version: hardly a work of art but usable.

Update,
£25poundlogo are now sending me the same email repeatedly (20 times today) asking me to pay (I paid at the beginning as they won’t start until you do).
They’re either incompetent or trying to irritate me! If it’s the latter, they’re wasting their time.
Kevin
