Just been to Confused.com to get a home insurance quote. I can’t get past the basic details page because I’m told I’ve made errors even though there are no indicators on the page to say where these errors might be and the information looks fine to me.
As a public-spirited sort, I’ve now been to the “Contact Us” page where I’m not only expected to give my name and email address but also my post code (?), date of birth (???) . I then noticed the Phone Number field which has an asterisk next to it. Now, what do you think an asterisk means next to a field name? Mandatory? Not in this case. Believe it or not, Confused.com (oh, what a joyous name) uses the asterisk to indicate an OPTIONAL field. It’s as if this page has been created by someone who’s never used the internet before!!
