It was with great trepidation that I told Amazon that the Sony Cybershot camera I bought for my daughter last Christmas had broken (the lens cover wouldn’t open). I had read horror stories on the internet of their intransigence as soon as a product was more than 6 months old and I expected to be passed on to the manufacturer at the very best.
To my utter amazement, within 30 minutes of sending the email I had an apologetic email (no doubt a “form” email but that doesn’t matter) that said whilst they would normally replace the item, it’s not in stock so they’re going to refund me. The email included a link to print a returns form and book a DHL collection.
Having just today ordered a Sony SLR from them I was dreading getting a negative response but credit to them, this old cynic is impressed!!
Update: Packed up the camera (no box, most of the accessories missing). Had the refund processed without issues two working days later. Outstanding.
